Only 2.5 – 3 hours from Johannesburg, in the North West Province, lies the Pilanesberg Game Reserve. A transition zone between the arid dryness of the Kalahari and the humid lowveld vegetation, the Pilanesberg includes grassy plains, rocky outcrops, forested valleys and some stunning dams. Its unique location – in a volcanic crater created over 12 million years ago from overflowing magma and as a transition zone – means that it is home to virtually all of the wildlife species native to southern Africa, including the Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo), wild dog, cessebe and more than 360 bird species. Due to its relatively small size and ecological richness, guests have an increased chance of experiencing the Big Five in their natural habitat.
This is the setting for Tented Adventures Pilanesberg safari camp. Our passionate local safari guides and lodge managers will host your unforgettable bush experience where – if you haven’t seen enough wildlife on game drives – warthogs, banded mongoose and impala often visit camp.
